J. Ely
Upon earning her
Juris Doctor in 1994 from the University of Alabama, Kathryn
returned to Birmingham and began prosecuting cases for the
Jefferson County District Attorney’s office as a Deputy D.A.
After several years of practice with the D.A.’s office,
Kathryn began practicing civil law as in-house counsel for a
national insurance company. As in-house counsel, Kathryn’s
practice focused on the representation of businesses and
employers in Worker’s Compensation suits. Kathryn entered
private practice in 2000 and, since that time, has used her
experience as a trial attorney and in-house counsel to
represent clients in all areas of civil litigation, with an
emphasis on insurance contract disputes and bad faith cases.
Kathryn is a
member of the Alabama Bar Association, Birmingham Bar
Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Alabama
Defense Lawyers Association.
